GGPoker leaderboards: track promotions without turning into a points zombie
Leaderboards are optional juice on volume you already planned to play. The moment you climb stakes only for a race, the “promo” starts charging interest.
How to check a race properly
- Open Promotions / Leaderboards in the client (or the matching ggpoker.com promo page).
- Read eligibility: games, stakes, opt-in requirement, geo limits.
- Note the scoring formula (raked hands, bounty knockouts, tournament points, etc.).
- Check prize type: cash vs tickets vs physical goods.
- Decide if your normal volume already clears a realistic finish — if not, skip.
Scoring models differ more than the name suggests
Everything is called a leaderboard. How it scores decides whether it is worth entering.

When you open a promotion, find this line first: does it score what you spend, or what you win? The answer changes the value of the race to you completely.
When leaderboards help
- You already play the eligible games at those stakes
- Prize covers a meaningful chunk of expected rake
- Race length matches your available sessions
When they hurt
- Forced multi-tabbing past your focus limit
- Stake jumps to “stay on the board”
- Ignoring rule changes announced mid-promotion
Schedules rotate constantly. We intentionally do not hard-code a “this week’s top races” list — those pages go wrong within days. Use the live client as source of truth.
When chasing a leaderboard is actually worth it
Three questions filter out most races.
- Were you going to play anyway? If those hands were already on your schedule, the prize is a pure addition. If you are adding hours for the race, the cost lands before any reward does.
- Do your stakes count? Many races group or weight by stake. Volume at an ineligible table scores nothing at all.
- How far off the prizes are you? Check the live standings at the halfway mark. If the gap is large, act as though the race does not exist and play your normal schedule.
The most expensive way to enter one.Finding yourself a few places short on the final day, then moving up, adding tables and extending the session all at once. Variance multiplies across all three, and the prize is usually worth far less than what that stretch can lose.

Where do I find GGPoker leaderboards?
Inside the client: look under Promotions / Leaderboards / Challenges (labels rotate). Public promo pages on ggpoker.com also surface seasonal races.
Do leaderboard points equal cash?
Not always. Some races pay cash, others pay tickets or merchandise. Read each race’s prize table before you optimize for it.
Which games count?
Each promotion defines its own eligible games, stakes, and scoring. Open the info panel of the race you are entering and read the eligible pool there — don’t assume Rush & Cash and MTTs always share a board.
Can chasing a leaderboard wreck a bankroll?
Yes. Moving up in stakes just to farm points is a classic leak. Treat promo EV as a bonus on correct stakes, not a reason to shoot up.
Do welcome tickets interact with leaderboards?
Ticketed freerolls / satellites may or may not award race points — check that event’s rules. Welcome ticket expiry is still 24 hours after award.
